Role Summary
The Surface Water specialist will work within the Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H) Technical Discipline, supporting both Brisbane and Townsville offices. The role reports to the Queensland Surface Water State Lead.
Responsibilities
* Deliver surface water environmental assessments and design projects across a range of client sectors.
* Apply hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software, including 2‐D hydraulic modelling (TUFLOW), hydrologic modelling (RORB, WBNM, XP RAFTS).
* Prepare quality technical reports for internal and external clients on time and within budget.
* Facilitate and enhance client and team relationships to support business development.
* Assist project teams on best‐practice principles and practices.
* Provide high‐level review work with commercial acumen.
* Support mentoring, training or supervising staff where required.
Qualifications
* 10–15+ years of industry experience, preferably within a consultancy.
* Engineering tertiary qualification and relevant industry experience.
* Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or qualification to achieve RPEQ registration within six months.
* Extensive hydraulic modelling experience (TUFLOW) and hydrologic modelling (RORB, WBNM, XP RAFTS).
* Knowledge of surface water engineering areas such as stormwater management, erosion & sediment control, water quality assessment, streamflow assessments, flood risk analysis, and site water management.
* Experience with design of water‐related structures (dams, levees, diversions) and understanding of QLD legislation.
* Excellent communication, technical report writing and project management skills.
* Strong client relationship management and interpersonal skills.
* Valid driver's licence.
