**Role**:
- Hours of work will be negotiated with the successful applicant but an suggestion would be 7am to 3pm. Holiday attendance may be required and negotiated in advance.
- Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
- Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
- An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
**Responsibilities**:
- The responsibilities of this position will be:
- The Facilities Manager is responsible for all preventive, routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance.
- Work closely with the Business Manager and Principal to schedule, carry out and document planned maintenance to facilities and grounds, including but not limited to essential services, air conditioning, heating, electrical, plumbing, fire services, pest control, painting, concreting, engineering, glazing and carpentry.
- To ensure works are carried out with due regard to the protection of the building and grounds and with minimum disruption to school activities.
- To ensure all works planned and otherwise are recorded and processed as required using AIMS.
- To take a 'hands on' role in performing daily maintenance tasks whenever required which may include: removal of graffiti, emergency maintenance, cleaning and deliveries.
- To respond to service requests from staff for breakdowns and repairs and maintain records of such requests.
- To identify, report and advise on major furniture, fixture and equipment renewal needs.
- Coordinate the collection of quotes in accordance with DET procurement policy, ensuring the appropriate school council agreements are applied.
- To assist with the staging of school events as required (e.g. fete, disco, concerts) to ensure such matters as equipment and furniture relocation and facilities meet the needs of the school.
- To respond to requests from staff to assist the moving of furniture and other items around the school.
- To be an active member of Building and Grounds Sub-Committee.
- Regular monitoring of school security i.e. open windows, unlocked doors, vandalism.

- manage the OHS process of engaging contractors including site specific OHS induction and information; ensuring that all contractors meet DET requirements (WWCC, licenses, insurance etc.); risk assessments are completed and to maintain oversight of work or services being carried out ensuring it is performed safely and to the expected standard.
- Review and maintain risk assessments and safe work procedures (e.g. plant and equipment register, chemical register, electrical register and update where changes occur.
- Conduct workplace safety inspections and monitor actions.
