Role detailsThe Child & Adolescent Service, Mental Health & AODS Division at Mackay HHS is seeking applications for a Psychiatrist - Child & Adolescent, Staff Specialist to join their team on a permanent full time basis (80 hrs p.f.) or part time options available.For information on how to apply and the mandatory requirements for this role, please refer to the attached Role Description.Your opportunityTo provide an advanced standard of clinical care through the provision of assessment and treatment services to individuals presenting with psychiatric, alcohol and other drug, emotional and/or behavioural disturbances to facilities within the Mackay Hospital and Health Service, including those being treated under the Mental Health Act (2016).To support ongoing education within the mental health service through the supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and medical students.About the TeamThe Mackay Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs Service comprises an acute mental health inpatient facility with 24 beds and a Step-Up Step-Down Unit with 6 beds. Community Mental Health Services include an Acute Care Service, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Continuing Care Team, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team, Early Psychosis, Child and Youth Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health, and Alcohol & Other Drugs Service. The rural communities are serviced by outreaching community teams in the Moranbah and Whitsunday area.In addition to the Community Child and Youth Mental Health Service we have an Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service which forms part of an integrated continuum of care for adolescents requiring mental health treatment. These services are based in Mackay with limited outreach services to Bowen, Moranbah, and Sarina. The Child and Adolescent Unit in the Mackay Base Hospital have two designated mental health beds for crisis intervention cases and links with the Townsville Adolescent Unit in the case of prolonged admissions.About our Hospital and Health ServiceMackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff.
