The Program
For many years, the Australian Red Cross has been a pillar of support for refugee, migrant, and asylum seeker women and their families through the Connected Women NT program, promoting social inclusion, empowerment, and community connection. The program has been widely recognised for its outstanding contributions, receiving awards including the Fitzgeralds Diversity Award and the INPEX Community Volunteer Organisation/Team of the Year Award.
The Joy of Many Colours – Multicultural Festival 2026 celebrates the richness and diversity of Darwin's multicultural communities in one vibrant and inclusive event. The festival will showcase the talents, traditions, creativity, and stories of women from diverse cultural backgrounds.
This special event is organised by the Connected Women group of the Australian Red Cross NT, in collaboration with Darwin's multicultural communities and with the generous support of the Northern Territory Government.
The Opportunity
Gain valuable hands‐on experience while networking and engaging with multicultural communities across the Northern Territory at The Joy of Many Colours – Multicultural Festival 2026.
Event Features
* Creative designs developed through capacity‐building workshops focused on upcycling, sewing, and creative design
* More than 100 dishes representing over 20 cultural backgrounds, offering a vibrant culinary experience
* Interactive games, live music, a photo wall, and engaging activities for children and families
* Cultural performances celebrating the diversity of our community
Volunteer Tasks
* Crowd management and guest support
* Serving food and assisting vendors
* Backstage and performance support
* Photography and event documentation
* Logistics and setup assistance
* Supporting children's activities and interactive games
* Assisting with cultural performances and event coordination
The Impact
The event provides an opportunity to volunteer who is passionate about women empowerment, capacity building and self‐learning. You will get an opportunity to learn about different cultures, meet new people and experience their culture.
