Job Title: Financial Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage and deliver monthly financial reports, ensure data integrity, prepare General Purpose Financial statements, liaise with auditors, and recommend procedural changes. This role will involve handling financial reporting for the Department of Finance and Department of Defence, collaborating with stakeholders to improve business processes, and ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.

Main Responsibilities:
* Manage the development and delivery of monthly financial reports within required timeframes.
* Review financial transactions, prepare financial journals, and perform month-end reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
* Contribute to the preparation of General Purpose Financial statements, including liaison with external and internal auditors.
* Recommend procedural improvements to the Manager, Accounting Services.
* Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, particularly in relation to asset management accounting functions.
* Provide monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting workpapers in relation to asset accounts.
* Undertake capitalisation of assets acquired by DHA, including cost allocations for developmental projects.
* Administer DHA's annual impairment process.
* Prepare notes to the financial statements as part of end-of-financial-year processing.
