Overview
Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project. HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW, significantly increasing the capacity of the electricity network in Australia's eastern states. The scope of works, worth $1.5bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double‐circuit transmission lines spanning 130km from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager – Substations to join our team on site on a FIFO roster.
What will a day in this role look like
* Plan, lead and control construction activities to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
* Coordinate resources and teams to ensure sufficient labour, plant and subcontractors, while monitoring progress and performance.
* Integrate project functions by working closely with engineering, procurement, logistics, quality and document control to support efficient construction delivery.
* Ensure safety, environmental and regulatory compliance by enforcing HSSE standards, workplace laws, environmental licence conditions and record‐keeping requirements.
* Manage stakeholder relationships by liaising with clients, supporting employee relations, maintaining project data and completing ad‐hoc tasks as required.
What we are looking for you to bring to the team
* Extensive construction management experience working within the utilities infrastructure sectors specifically on greenfield or brownfield substation environments.
* Strong understanding and knowledge of construction principles on all associated construction works including foundations, structures and access tracks.
* High level of business and commercial acumen backed by a sound ability to create, read, and interpret budgets, financial statements and analyse variance reports.
* Tertiary engineering qualification or relevant industry trade background desired.
