Freestone Building Surveying
Freestone Building Surveying provides residential building surveying services within Tasmania. This includes collecting, collating and assessing a range of documentation from clients – including building plans, title documentation, engineer's and other specialist reports – and submitting applications for building and plumbing to the relevant Council. We are responsible for issuing Start Work Notices and ensuring compliance with legislation throughout the build. This involves conducting site inspections, writing reports and issuing documentation to Council, builders and owners.
We are a small team who enjoy a friendly, supportive work environment and assist each other to ensure deadlines are met, issues are responded to and concerns are shared.
Purpose of the position
This is an entry-level position and is ideally suited to a recent school leaver, who would like to join a small, friendly team. The Receptionist is primarily responsible for providing the first point of contact for clients - either in person or via telephone. In addition, this role supports the other administrative positions by collecting documentation, distributing emails and performing other administrative functions as required.
Duties
* Answer incoming phone calls, quickly determine the nature of the call and take messages or redirect calls within the office as appropriate
* Welcome visitors to the office and assist with queries
* Assist with project document collection - scanning of signed documents etc
* Maintain and update project records via the Building Certification Systems (BCS) database
* Liaise with clients, designers, builders and Council staff to obtain documentation
* File and process Start Work Notices and other project documents as requested
* Any other tasks as directed
Requirements of the role
Essential
* Completion of Year 12 (minimum)
* Strong communication skills, including a friendly, approachable manner and desire to learn
* A "can do" approach, combined with the ability to follow instructions and take on new tasks
* High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
* Demonstrated familiarity with contemporary office systems, including Word, Outlook and Excel
