Overview
The Parent Outreach Support Worker reports directly to the Manager, Parenting and Family Services in Camberwell. This role provides early‐intervention outreach to first‐time and new parents who are assessed as vulnerable, with a focus on parents experiencing or at risk of mental health challenges. The position requires travel throughout the City of Boroondara to support families in their home environment.
Responsibilities
* Provide outreach support to vulnerable new parents across the City of Boroondara
* Deliver a flexible outreach response, including client engagement, risk assessment, counseling, parenting strategies, information, advocacy, and referral
* Provide group facilitation when required
* Manage risk and file records
* Engage and network with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Nursing, Early Childhood, Psychology or a related discipline, or eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body such as AASW or APS
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in delivering casework or counseling in an outreach setting
* Minimum of 2 years' experience working with clients on mental health, child and baby development, and parenting (especially of infants)
* Experience working with families in crisis and capacity for active engagement
* Demonstrated knowledge, experience and skills in providing counseling and casework services
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications
Compliance Requirements
* National Police Check and Working with Children Check
* Evidence of right to work in Australia and a valid driver's licence
