Overview
Primary Location: Vic – Coburg
Role: Electrician – maintains and upgrades electrical and control systems associated with water and wastewater infrastructure.
Locations: Yarra Valley Water's Northern Service Delivery area. Positions available for varying classifications and skill levels: Leading Hand (Dual Trade) – \"x1\" and Electrician & Instrumentation Technician (Dual Trade) – \"x8\".
Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time. Reporting line: Field Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks to assets and processes including electrical reconnect / disconnect, response to equipment failure, fault finding of process, and basic maintenance to remedy faults.
* Installation and augmentation of assets, plant and installations; maintenance and fault finding of assets, plant and installations.
* Carry out programmed maintenance and minor works; commissioning and de‐commissioning of assets, plant and installations.
* Provide technical support to engineers and production personnel.
* Promote a culturally aware, inclusive, engaged, high‐performance team aligned with a values‐based workplace culture.
* Foster collaborative engagement with external trade stakeholders and apace schedule of activities to ensure efficient performance of services.
* Participate in rostering and after‐hours call‐out roster to ensure continuous operation of critical infrastructure.
* Demonstrate effective leadership, create a positive work environment and promote best practice in the workplace.
* Maintain positive relationships with apprentices to enhance trade skills.
* Enhance commercial considerations in all decisions.
About You
* Trade qualified Electrician (dual trade preferred).
* Strong fault‐finding and problem‐solving capability.
* Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to upskill and undertake additional training for ongoing development.
Skills & Qualifications
* Valid Drivers Licence.
* Valid Electrical Licence.
* 3 years' experience in the water industry or similar industry.
* Experience with plant and equipment associated with wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations.
* Sound knowledge of computer maintenance management systems.
* Practical and theoretical knowledge of SCADA.
* Experience working to strict quality systems.
* Capability to inspect, test, adjust and repair electrical equipment.
* Practical experience with pressure and flow instruments.
* Instrumentation & Control fault‐finding ability.
* Mandatory satisfactory critical infrastructure background check (AusCheck).
