Role Description
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support safe and efficient operations.
This role works closely with maintenance teams, operations, and contractors to develop detailed work plans, manage maintenance schedules, and optimize resource utilization.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
* Plan labor, materials, tools, permits, and equipment required for maintenance work.
* Review and prioritize maintenance work orders in collaboration with operations and maintenance supervisors.
* Create detailed job plans, including task sequences, estimated durations, safety requirements, and spare parts lists.
* Coordinate shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance activities.
* Ensure spare parts and materials are available prior to scheduled work.
* Monitor maintenance backlog and support work order prioritization.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
* Analyze equipment history and maintenance data to improve reliability and maintenance efficiency.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
* Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
* Liaise with contractors and external service providers where required.
* Participate in maintenance budgeting and cost control activities.
Qualifications and Experience
* Trade qualification, diploma, or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline.
* Previous experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, or asset management.
* Experience using a Hire system or service system is an advantage
* Strong understanding of maintenance strategies, preventive maintenance, and reliability principles.
* Experience in manufacturing, mining, utilities, logistics, food processing, or heavy industry environments preferred.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
