* Permanent full-time opportunity (35 hours/week)
* Office location based in Newcastle, Parramatta or negotiable across regional NSW with flexible working supported
* Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $149,739 to $173,174 + super

The role

This is a unique, high‐impact role with oversight across the full Crown Lands and Public Spaces portfolio. You'll lead audit and risk functions across the agency, working closely with department teams and executives, the audit office and DPHI risk teams to ensure strong governance, compliance and reporting outcomes are in place and continuously improving.

You'll take a hands‐on approach, coordinating audits, managing risk frameworks and registers, and providing clear, practical advice to support decision‐making across the division. It's a fast paced environment where you'll balance competing priorities, translate insights into actions, and work across teams to strengthen audit, risk and resilience capability across a diverse and complex portfolio.

What you will bring to the role

* Extensive experience in audit and risk management, ideally within large or complex organisations, with the ability to step in and operate effectively from day one
* Strong knowledge of audit and risk frameworks, governance processes and statutory requirements, including experience working with Audit Offices/Audit And Risk Committees, and senior stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver audit and risk programs, including coordinating audits, managing compliance requirements and driving continuous improvement initiatives
* Proven capability to analyse risk insights and translate them into practical actions, improving systems, processes and organisational capability
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence influencing and advising senior executives and working collaboratively across multiple business areas
* Strong written and communication skills, including preparing high‐level briefings, reports and governance documentation
* Experience leading or mentoring staff, with a collaborative and hands‐on leadership style in a lean team environment
* A proactive, solutions‐focused mindset, able to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a high‐volume, evolving environment

Essential requirement

* Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in audit/risk management or relevant field.
