About the role
The Specialist ES Project Management provides a crucial support to the delivery of key initiatives across the Emergency Services program, focusing on strategic projects that strengthen emergency resilience, response, and recovery programs.
This role ensures projects are planned, coordinated, and delivered efficiently while maintaining alignment with organisational priorities and stakeholder needs. In addition, the Specialist contributes to effective program delivery by coordinating cross-functional initiatives and works closely with stakeholders across states and territories, national teams, and business units such as People & Culture, IT, and Risk.
About you
As an experienced Project Manager, you will have sound discipline knowledge gained through working in or alongside a volunteer-led organisation or emergency/disaster management programs.
You will bring experience designing or enabling system improvements, business processes, or cross-functional initiatives and demonstrating familiarity with community mobilisation, human-centered design, or continuous improvement practices will be a significant advantage.
Key behavioural and technical capabilities
Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and expertise in project management and implementation
High level of knowledge and skills project coordination skills, including planning, scheduling, and stakeholder engagement
Ability to work under general direction from senior employees, exercise a degree of autonomy and work with and lead teams and people from diverse backgrounds to create a collaborative working environment
Ability to set priorities, plan and organise their own work and that of lower classified staff and/or volunteers
Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems and exercise initiative and judgement where practices and procedures are not clearly defined
Ability to provide expert advice to employees classified at a lower level and volunteers
Interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Plan, co-ordinate, implement and administer....
Ability to manage multiple priorities, track progress, and support timely project delivery.
Good understanding of systems, processes, and data management relevant to program delivery.
Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and functions, and to influence outcomes without direct authority.
Sound written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports and presenting information to stakeholders.
Comfortable operating in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous environment.
