Collie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Student Support Officers (SSO) for permanent and fixed‐term, full‐time and part‐time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The role requires energetic and motivated individuals who can support student wellbeing, resilience and pro‐social behaviour. SSOs will work under the Student Services Manager, implementing triage practices, managing support processes, coordinating with the Student Services team and partnering with other agencies. They will participate in Student at Education Risk (SAER) case conferences, provide consultancy advice, coordinate SAER activities, facilitate restorative meetings, and assist in crisis management.
Responsibilities
* Monitor and manage triage practices and support processes for students.
* Collaborate with the Student Services team and external agencies to deliver SAER interventions.
* Facilitate restorative meetings to resolve conflicts and ensure post‐meeting outcomes are followed up.
* Engage in crisis management and response duties under direction.
* Provide case conference and student support advice as required.
Eligibility and Qualifications
* Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid visa with work rights for the term of appointment.
* Valid Working With Children Check before starting.
* Experience or interest in working with adolescents in a school setting.
* Strong relationship‐building and communication skills.
* Planning, organisational and time‐management abilities.
* Research, conceptual and analytical skills with a problem‐solving mindset.
* Experience working with students experiencing difficulties.
* Knowledge of the youth sector, including local organisations and services.
