About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counsellor to join our counselling and student wellbeing teams on the Senior Campus.
Reporting to the Deans of Students and the Head of Secondary School, this role provides an essential service within the School, contributing proactively to students' ongoing development in learning and wellbeing.
As a School Counsellor, you will identify, support, and refer students who are experiencing mental health challenges or related school and family issues.
You will work closely with teaching staff to manage student needs and provide guidance to parents, ensuring a collaborative approach to student success.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering a professional, ethical, and evidence-based counselling service for students and families.
Supporting students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural growth.
Promoting resilience and wellbeing through preventative programs and skill-building strategies.
Providing grief and loss counselling and crisis support when required.
Collaborating with educators, parents, carers, and external agencies to implement effective interventions.
Facilitating wellbeing programs such as anxiety prevention and social skills development.
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to staff professional development.
About you

Are you someone who:
Has a strong foundation in psychology or counselling, with experience supporting children and adolescents through challenges that impact their learning and wellbeing.
Is comfortable navigating sensitive conversations and knows how to balance confidentiality with collaboration.
Has an approach that is proactive and positive.
Enjoys working as part of a team, sharing ideas, and contributing to programs that build resilience and promote mental health.
Is organised, adaptable and committed to ongoing learning, ensuring your practice reflects the latest evidence-based strategies.
Is thorough in their working knowledge of current child safeguarding responsibilities.
