The Opportunity
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Associate to join a highly regarded Insurance practice specialising in statutory classes and industrial accident litigation. Working closely with senior practitioners in the team, you will advise and represent insurers, self-insured corporations, specialised insurers, and regulatory bodies across a broad range of complex matters.
This role offers exposure to sensitive and technically challenging disputes, including psychological injury claims, industrial common law negligence matters, fatalities, and complex liability disputes arising under the NSW statutory compensation framework.
You will play a key role in managing litigation across the Supreme Court, District Court, and Personal Injury Commission while contributing to strategic claims management and early intervention solutions for clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing a diverse portfolio of statutory insurance and industrial accident matters
* Advising on liability, psychological injury, risk management, and return-to-work strategies
* Preparing detailed and commercially focused legal advice and recommendations
* Drafting high-quality correspondence, submissions, reports, and briefs to counsel
* Conducting litigation matters including conferences, mediations, hearings, trials, and appeals
* Liaising directly with insurer clients, self-insured entities, scheme agents, and government stakeholders
* Assisting with high-profile and sensitive matters involving fatalities and complex liability issues
* Reviewing medical, psychological, and regulatory evidence
* Collaborating closely with senior lawyers and counsel to deliver exceptional client outcomes
* Supporting innovative and strategic claims-management initiatives
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
* Minimum 3-5 years’ post-admission experience in insurance litigation or statutory compensation
* Strong experience advising on NSW workers compensation and industrial accident matters
* Excellent drafting and written communication skills
* Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Strong client relationship and stakeholder management capabilities
* Sound judgement and professionalism when handling sensitive matters
* Commercially minded approach with a strong client-service focus
* Experience reviewing complex medical and psychological evidence
* A collaborative and proactive approach to practice and team culture
