Position Summary

The Wellbeing Manager leads the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of student health and wellbeing initiatives across the UNSW Faculty of Medicine & Health. Drawing on clinical expertise, the role drives faculty-wide programs focused on prevention, early intervention and capability building, with the aim of strengthening student wellbeing and supporting a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Working at a senior level, the role provides leadership in wellbeing governance, quality assurance and continuous improvement, while acting as the key escalation point for complex student matters requiring clinical judgment and risk-based decision-making. The Wellbeing Manager partners closely with internal and external stakeholders, including the Mental Health Connect team, to ensure integrated, culturally safe and best-practice support frameworks across the faculty.

The role also plays a central part in building staff capability through training and coaching, embedding wellbeing into teaching and student experience initiatives, and using data and insights to inform strategy, reporting and service planning.

Based at Kensington, the role will require travel to metropolitan and rural clinical schools and hospital sites.

Key Skills Required

* A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Nursing or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
* At least 6 years relevant experience and registration with appropriate professional body e.g. AHPRA, AASW etc.
* Demonstrated subject matter expertise in designing and delivering health and wellbeing training and development programs for staff and/or students, preferably within higher education or professional settings.
* Extensive skills in providing effective, brief therapeutic interventions to students with a broad range of presenting and complex needs.
* Significant experience conducting comprehensive psycho-social and risk assessments, including formulation and appropriate referral pathways to support complex and crisis student presentations.
* Proven understanding of the unique challenges of students undertaking health professional training programs, including placement-related pressures and regulatory requirements.
* Previous high-level experience in resource planning and project management in higher education or equivalent level of knowledge gained through education/training and/or experience.
* Strong understanding of data analysis and using insights to inform reporting and creating strategies that improve student outcomes.
