About the role

Are you ready to start a rewarding career in pathology and make a real impact in healthcare? An exciting opportunity is now available to join the Core Laboratory team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This is your chance to contribute to vital diagnostic services that support patient care every single day. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality laboratory and technical services. Working both independently and alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll be involved in a range of routine testing within our fast-paced Core Laboratory.

Proven experience in Multiple disciplines is highly desirable, Haematology, Biochemistry, Morphology, Coagulation, Blood Bank.

In this role, you will also take on senior responsibilities, guiding and supporting team members while ensuring that laboratory practices remain safe, efficient and compliant with standards. You will prepare reports, assess technical suitability of equipment and processes, and provide informed recommendations that contribute to continuous improvement. Your work will directly support key scientific functions while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.

About You

To excel in this role, you will bring a recognised Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) and a strong foundation in laboratory practice. You are a reliable and proactive professional who can manage competing demands, produce high-quality work, and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment. Your ability to troubleshoot, communicate clearly and uphold safe, efficient laboratory processes will enable you to make a valued contribution to the service.

Key Requirements

- Technical Capability & Task Management: Demonstrated ability to complete variable workloads to a high standard, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and follow laboratory procedures with accuracy and consistency.

- Supervision, Communication & Teamwork: Skilled in supervising and training others, preparing reports, working effectively within a team, and communicating clearly with staff, clients and stakeholders.

- Problem-Solving & Initiative: Strong ability to use initiative, resolve issues, troubleshoot laboratory challenges and adapt to changing requirements while working under limited supervision.

- Laboratory Knowledge & Safety: Experience in relevant laboratory settings, with sound knowledge of diagnostic laboratory practice, quality principles, and Work Health and Safety requirements.
