Location & Working Arrangements
Assistant Accountant position based in Sydney Head Office, Double Bay. The successful candidate must work from the office five days per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare bank reconciliations across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Process invoices end-to-end, including coding, approvals, and timely system entry.
* Manage accounts payable and receivable, including set up and processing of creditor payments.
* Assist with month‐end and year‐end close processes, including preparation of financial reports.
* Support BAS preparation and other compliance‐related reporting requirements.
* Maintain and update loan registers and supporting workpapers to ensure data integrity.
* Calculate monthly interest for third‐party loans and assist with broker trail payments.
* Action investor transactions, including fund allocations, transfers, redemptions, and investor distributions.
* Support audit processes by liaising with external auditors and preparing required documentation.
* Contribute to strong financial controls by identifying issues, escalating risks, and supporting continuous process improvements.
About You
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
* 2+ years' experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper, or similar role.
* Proven experience preparing bank reconciliations and supporting month‐end reporting processes.
* Hands‐on experience across accounts payable and receivable, with strong attention to detail.
* Exposure to BAS preparation and general accounting compliance requirements.
* Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
* Experience with MYOB is advantageous, but not essential.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
