POSITION PURPOSE
Drive new business development across Australian market, building a portfolio of 24-36 new accounts in Year 1 to achieve $1.37M in attributed sales revenue (excluding house accounts) at 35%+ gross profit margin.
This is a pure sales role - 100% focused on NEW business acquisition and account growth, with all operational/production support handled by NZ team.
Future Growth Opportunity: As the Australian business scales, this role will expand to include management of state-based sales representatives, with input on hiring, territory allocation, and performance management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary Focus (80% of time)
1. NEW Business Development
* Target: 24-36 new accounts in Year per month)
* Primary sectors: Promotional companies (APPA members), corporate uniform suppliers, screen printers, government agencies
* $1.37M attributed sales target (excludes house accounts)
2. Territory Account Management
* All Australia coverage: VIC/NSW/QLD primary (70%), SA/WA/TAS secondary (30%)
* Maintain 95%+ customer retention rate
* Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers
3. Margin Management
* Maintain 35%+ gross profit margin through strategic product mix
* Product strategy: Focus on high-margin products (Result 38%, Urban Collab 36%, Headwear 35%)
* Quarterly gross profit target: $480K annually
Future Responsibility (Year 2+)
4. Sales Team Management
* Manage state-based sales representative(s) as business expands
* Input on recruitment, territory structure, and compensation design
* Performance management and coaching of direct reports
* Territory planning and account allocation across team
* Team target setting and GP accountability

* Production, branding, or warehouse operations (handled by NZ team)
* Vista Print account management (retained by MD)
* Day-to-day operational problem-solving (escalate to NZ operations)

* Breakeven performance: $554K sales (40% of quota)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE (Essential)
* 3-5 years wholesale apparel or promotional products sales experience
* Proven track record of NEW business development (hunter mentality)
* Strong understanding of wholesale/B2B sales cycles and margin management
* Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel 50-60% (3 days/week average)
* Based in Australia (VIC, NSW or QLD preferred)
Desirable
* Existing relationships within APPA (Australasian Promotional Products Association)
* Experience with screen printers, embroiderers, or promotional companies
* Knowledge of corporate uniform or promotional product markets
* CRM system proficiency
* Previous experience managing or mentoring sales representatives

* Overnight stays required for interstate visits
* Home-based with flexible work arrangements
* Company provides $18K annual car allowance
Future Territory Evolution:
As state-based representatives are added, Sales Manager will transition from direct coverage to strategic account management and team oversight. Sales Manager retains key strategic accounts while managing team territory allocation.
