Sunshine Coast, QLD | Full-Time | Permanent

Our client is a well-established and growing accounting and advisory Melbourne based firm seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to join their Business Services team on the Sunshine Coast.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Accountant ready to step into a leadership position, or an existing Assistant Manager looking to join a collaborative and supportive firm with a strong focus on client service and professional development.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the senior leadership, you will manage a portfolio of clients while supporting and developing a team of accountants. The role offers a combination of technical compliance, client advisory work, workflow management, and team leadership.

You will be responsible for maintaining strong client relationships, reviewing work completed by the team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting and taxation services.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage a portfolio of business clients across a range of industries
* Prepare and review financial statements and income tax returns
* Provide taxation and business advice to clients
* Review compliance work completed by junior and intermediate accountants
* Oversee BAS, IAS, payroll tax and other compliance obligations
* Respond to client queries and ATO correspondence
* Manage workflow, budgets and deadlines across your client portfolio
* Support, mentor and develop junior team members
* Assist with technical training and quality control processes
* Contribute to ongoing improvements across systems and procedures

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:

* CA or CPA qualification
* Based in Sunshine Coast
* At least 5 years' experience within Australian public practice
* Strong technical knowledge of taxation and business services
* Experience reviewing work and providing guidance to junior staff
* Well-developed communication and client relationship skills
* Strong organizational and time management abilities
* Experience using Xero and other cloud-based accounting platforms
* A collaborative and professional approach to client service
