Job Description
NBN is Nine's regional news arm, with an audience stretching across Northern New South Wales and into Queensland. It has bureaus with reporters and camera operators in the Central Coast, Tamworth, Lismore, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Taree – broadcasting out of a brand new state of the art studio and newsroom in Newcastle. NBN has been based out of Newcastle for 60 years – and is a talent pool for the broader Nine Network.
Join the NBN news team in this dynamic role, where you will be the primary voice for the Tamworth region, delivering high-impact stories across television, digital, and social platforms. You will focus on crafting compelling narratives that resonate with our local audience, from breaking news and community issues to the heart of regional sport.
Day To Day You Will
* Identify and report on breaking news and sport with speed and journalistic integrity.
* Monitor local trends and community groups to uncover exclusive regional stories.
* Conduct engaging interviews and live crosses from the field across various media.
* Collaborate with producers to script, edit, and package multiple daily news segments.
* Maintain a diverse network of local stakeholders and news sources across the region.
* Work effectively under pressure to meet tight broadcast and digital deadlines.
* Generate innovative content ideas for the NBN website and social media channels.
What You'll Bring
* A Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field.
* Prior experience in television news with a strong focus on sports reporting.
* A confident on-air presence and the ability to package stories for broadcast.
* Exceptional writing and storytelling skills tailored for a television audience.
* A proven track record of breaking stories and building a broad contact network.
* Energy, proactive problem-solving skills, and a collaborative team spirit.
* Technical proficiency in producing segments for modern newsroom environments.
