Aquaculture Technician Role Overview

The Job:
We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Pond Technician to join our team at our prawn farm in Proserpine on a full-time, fixed-term contract until March 31, 2026. This role is crucial to the daily operations of our farm, directly contributing to the health and productivity of our prawns.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct daily monitoring of prawn activity, health, and water quality parameters.
* Perform water exchanges and manage pond inputs to maintain optimal growing conditions.
* Carry out pond remediation and preparation activities post-harvest and for new seasons.
* Operate farm vehicles, including small trucks, to distribute materials and feed across the site.
* Proactively identify and report any issues with prawns, water quality, or infrastructure.
* Adhere to and champion all workplace health and safety procedures and environmental protocols.
* Support the wider farm team by assisting with general farm tasks and maintenance as required.
Requirements:
* Ability to conduct daily monitoring of prawn activity, health, and water quality parameters.
* Skills in performing water exchanges and managing pond inputs to maintain optimal growing conditions.
* Experience in carrying out pond remediation and preparation activities post-harvest and for new seasons.
* Capacity to operate farm vehicles, including small trucks, to distribute materials and feed across the site.
* Ability to proactively identify and report any issues with prawns, water quality, or infrastructure.
* Commitment to adhering to and championing all workplace health and safety procedures and environmental protocols.
* Ability to support the wider farm team by assisting with general farm tasks and maintenance as required.
