Overview / Role Summary
Join the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Liverpool Hospital as a Senior Occupational Therapist. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the developmental outcomes of premature and medically complex infants from the beginning of their journey, providing specialist developmental care, neurobehavioural assessment, family-centred intervention, and discharge planning in a dynamic tertiary NICU setting.
Responsibilities
* Deliver specialised developmental care and neuroprotective interventions for premature and medically fragile infants.
* Conduct neurobehavioural, sensory and developmental assessments to inform individualised care planning.
* Partner with families to empower parents in understanding and supporting their infant's development and participation in everyday activities.
* Lead OT input into complex discharge planning, ensuring smooth transitions to home and community services.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including neonatologists, nursing staff, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, social workers and lactation consultants.
* Provide clinical supervision, mentorship and professional support to junior OTs and students.
* Contribute to quality improvement, education and service development initiatives to improve outcomes for infants and families.
* Support workforce development and contribute to innovative models of care and operational management of the Paediatric OT team.
Selection Criteria
* Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent, with current registration with AHPRA.
* Advanced clinical skills in neonatal/infant care within NICU or newborn settings; experience across acute and outpatient paediatric caseloads.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient-centred outcomes using evidence-based care.
* Experience in clinical supervision and mentoring of staff and/or students.
* Experience or knowledge of service review and quality improvement frameworks.
* Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). If licensed in a state other than NSW, must obtain NSW C class (P1 or P2) within three months of appointment. Learner licenses are not permitted.
