About the opportunity
We are seeking a Principal Research Fellow to lead a dynamic research stream focused on mental health policy within a nationally recognised team. This role drives impactful research to inform policy and service design, engaging closely with government, professional groups, and community stakeholders to improve mental health outcomes. The role will contribute to a research project of national significance for youth mental health.
The Youth Mental Health and Technology team puts young people at the centre of their own care. We partner with health services to develop innovative treatments for those aged 12-25 with emerging mental health disorders. The integration of cutting-edge research with safe and effective clinical care enables us to quickly and effectively translate our research findings into clinical services, facilitating continuous improvements to mental health services for the benefit of young people in Australia.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* work closely with government relations, professional groups, providers, consumers, carers, and international collaborators
* develop the mental health policy research stream through qualitative and quantitative data analysis
* build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with domestic and international partners
* collaboration with strategic leaders to translate research into policy and service design
* publish high-quality academic work and prepare reports and submissions for government stakeholders
* engage in public outreach through blogs, media, and community meetings to promote mental health care improvements.
About you
* doctorate or PhD in a relevant field
* extensive experience conducting original research in mental health policy
* strong track record of academic publications and competitive research funding
* experience working with government and community stakeholders
* demonstrated ability to lead research translation into policy and practice.
