Snowy Hydro is developing Snowy 2.0, Australia's largest renewable energy project, and seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead contractor oversight on the site.
About the position
As Senior Project Engineer, you report to the Project Manager and oversee contractor activities during the transition from excavation to structural completion. Focus on FRP activities, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and resolving issues proactively.
Key Responsibilities
Champion Safety First: Create a safety culture, implement safety plans for high‐risk FRP tasks such as heavy lifting, steel fixing, and concrete pumping.
Oversee FRP and Structural Works: Monitor daily underground construction tasks—formwork, reinforcement, concrete pouring—ensuring alignment with IFC drawings and specs.
Drive Quality in Concrete Construction: Inspect pre‐pour conditions, verify rebar spacing, concrete quality, curing, and preempt quality declines.
Ensure Transparency and Accountability: Review ITPs, participate in witness hold points, manage NCRs, assess schedules, and review contractor claims.
Location
Site‐based, 14/7 FIFO roster with standard FIFO camp arrangements.
About you
The Right Foundation: Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, eligible for Engineers Australia membership.
Proven Track Record: Minimum 5 years experience on large infrastructure projects as civil/tunnel engineer.
Technical Expertise in FRP: Knowledge of Formwork, Reinforcement, and Pour (FRP) methods and structural concrete elements. TBM and drill & blast experience is a plus.
Engineer Fluency: Ability to read and interpret scopes, specs, and drawings.
Exceptional People Skills: Communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to build strong relationships with internal teams and contractors.
