Macedon Ranges Shire Council - Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS)
Volunteer in Gisborne. We're looking for friendly volunteers who would enjoy building a friendship with an older person in Gisborne.
Volunteers are matched with individuals with similar interests for regular weekly social visits or outings. The program supports individuals who may be feeling isolated and lonely, and the aim is to develop genuine ongoing friendships through your visits. Visits like these are incredibly powerful and can make a difference to someone's life. Visits may involve any activities that both you and the participant both enjoy, such as chatting over a cup of tea, shared hobbies, going for a walk or out for a local cuppa.
ACVVS volunteers help to improve the quality of life by providing companionship and restoring their sense of social connection.
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme supports elderly people living in Government funded aged care homes or in their own home and receiving a home care package. Join our community of volunteers and be part of the fantastic network of aged care volunteers in the shire.
To volunteer, you need to:
* be over the age of 18
* have time to commit to regular visits for a minimum of 12 months
* attend an interview and undergo reference checks
* Police Check and Working with Children Check
Macedon Ranges Shire Council (MRSC) supports volunteers through ongoing support, training opportunities and volunteer appreciation activities.
With aged care participants living all over the Macedon Ranges, there are opportunities wherever you might live within the shire.
