Offer description

Overview

At Parkerville, our work sits at the intersection of youth support, family reconnection, and safety-governed practice. We support young people experiencing homelessness, conflict, and instability to reconnect safely with family, kin, or other stable care arrangements.

In this role, you will set the tone for how practice shows up across the service – ensuring it is consistent, trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in what works in real life for young people and families.

A core part of this role is strengthening family-based practice, including:

* conflict resolution
* family counselling approaches
* reconnection and reunification work
* supporting safe repair of relationships where appropriate

This is a full time role, based at Armadale with travel to Midland required. You'll work alongside teams navigating complex situations where relationships may be strained, fractured, or unsafe – helping them find pathways forward that are safety-governed, youth-led, and family-centred.

What This Looks Like Day-to-Day

You'll be embedded in the work that matters most.

* Supporting staff to respond to complex family dynamics, conflict, and breakdown
* Providing practical therapeutic guidance that teams can apply immediately
* Leading reflective supervision that deepens thinking and strengthens decision-making
* Strengthening reconnection and reunification planning, ensuring it is safe, realistic, and sustainable
* Helping teams develop care and safety plans that hold in real-life situations
* Building staff confidence in working not just with young people, but with families, carers, and kin

This is a role where practice is not theoretical – it is lived, tested, and continuously improved.

About You

You are someone who understands that lasting change for young people often sits within relationships, not just individual support.

Essential experience
* Strong background in family work, counselling, or family systems practice
* Experience in conflict resolution, mediation, or therapeutic family interventions
* Demonstrated experience supporting reconnection, reunification, or placement stability
* Experience working with young people in complex, high-risk environments
Desirable
* Understanding of the impact of trauma on young mums and their children
* Child development knowledge and attachment based parenting
Practice leadership capability
* Confidence in supervision, consultation, and coaching staff
* Ability to translate complex theory into clear, usable practice
* Experience strengthening risk assessment and safety planning
* A calm, grounded approach in high-pressure or crisis situations
Your approach
* You can hold complexity without losing sight of the person
* You understand that safety includes emotional, relational, and physical safety
* You believe in repair, not blame, and know when reconnection is possible- and when it must be carefully managed
* You are committed to culturally safe, child-centred, and family-responsive practice
* You value reflection as the foundation of strong, ethical decision-making
More Information
* SCHADS Schedule B Pay Point and Level – Level 6.1-6.3 – $55.72 – $58.19 per hour
* EAP Service with Wellness resources.
* Salary Packaging of up to $15,900.
