Looking for more than just another workshop job?
At Bis, we're building careers — not just filling positions.
We're on the hunt for a motivated Workshop Trades Assistant to join our Tyre Shop team at Tomago. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‐on work, wants to learn a trade, and is looking for long‐term career growth within a leading mining and resources business.
You'll work alongside experienced Tyre Fitters, supporting the repair, servicing, and maintenance of heavy OTR tyres and equipment while learning the trade from the ground up.
If you've got a strong work ethic, a safety‐first attitude, and the drive to learn — we'll provide the training and support to help you build a rewarding career.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of the Tyre Shop team, you'll assist with a variety of workshop and labouring tasks including:
* Assisting with servicing, maintenance, and repairs of heavy OTR tyres and wheels
* Supporting qualified tradespeople in daily workshop activities
* Maintaining workshop cleanliness and housekeeping standards
* Operating equipment safely and following safe work procedures
* Completing paperwork and workshop documentation accurately
* Carrying out inspections and reporting defects or safety concerns
* Assisting with loading, unloading, and movement of equipment and tyres
Most importantly — you'll be learning valuable skills and building a pathway into the tyre fitting trade.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone reliable, safety‐focused, and eager to learn.
To Be Successful, You'll Ideally Have
* Previous experience working in a workshop or industrial environment
* A current Driver's Licence
* A Forklift Ticket
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn
* Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently
* A genuine interest in developing a career in tyre fitting or heavy industry
Previous tyre fitting experience is a bonus — but not essential.
