Senior Commercial Manager / Commercial Lead
RSG is partnering with a rapidly growing contractor delivering complex infrastructure, utilities, energy and industrial projects across Australia. Due to continued growth and a strong national project pipeline, the business is seeking to appoint a commercially astute and strategically driven Commercial Lead to support major project delivery and broader business operations.
This position represents a rare opportunity for a senior commercial professional to step into a high-impact leadership role within a highly regarded and expanding organisation. The role will suit an individual who has developed strong commercial capability working either client side or contractor side across major projects and large-scale contracts.
Reporting into senior leadership, the Commercial Lead will take ownership of the commercial function across multiple projects and business operations, providing strategic leadership across contracts, procurement, risk, claims, commercial negotiations and project performance. This role will play a critical part in supporting project delivery teams while helping shape and strengthen the broader commercial framework of the business as the company continues to scale nationally.
The successful candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, leadership capability and the ability to operate confidently across complex contractual environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead commercial strategy across major infrastructure and energy projects
* Manage head contract and subcontract commercial obligations
* Oversee contract administration, claims, variations and dispute resolution
* Support procurement and subcontractor engagement strategies
* Provide commercial risk analysis and mitigation strategies
* Partner closely with project delivery teams to drive project performance
* Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders
* Monitor project financial performance, cost control and forecasting
* Develop and improve commercial systems, governance and reporting
* Mentor and support commercial and project personnel
* Contribute to broader business growth and strategic initiatives
About You
* Extensive commercial management experience across major projects
* Background working either client side or principal contractor side
* Experience across infrastructure, utilities, energy, civil or industrial sectors
* Strong understanding of complex contracts including AS4000, AS2124, EPC, FIDIC or similar
* Proven capability managing large-scale contracts and commercial risk
* Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to influence senior leadership and project teams
* Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Construction Management, Engineering or similar
* Commercial leadership experience within high-performing project environments
