About the role

The Research Governance Officer (RGO) is responsible to the Manager, Research Ethics and Governance office for the overall efficient and effective co-ordination and provision of services in all matters pertaining to research governance within Women's and Children's Health Network (WCHN) as per the SA Health Research Ethics and Governance Policy This includes the development and implementation of a framework for research governance at WCHN and communication strategies to achieve effective research governance.

Key duties of the role

* Liaise with researchers, sponsors, and stakeholders regarding research governance and site authorisation.
* Manage the site authorisation process, reviewing Site-Specific Assessment (SSA) forms and assessing risks.
* Ensure compliance with organisational KPIs for governance approvals and conduct risk management assessments.
* Provide advice on research governance, ensuring adherence to policies, guidelines, and jurisdictional reference materials.
* Review contracts, clinical trial agreements, and financial management practices to ensure legal and fiscal compliance.

Skills and Experience

* Understand the health and medical research environment in South Australia and Australia.
* Possess high level interpersonal and organisational skills including the ability to foster good working relationships internally and externally with researchers and staff at all levels.
* Capacity to think analytically, critically review documents, display initiative, work flexibly and accurately report information with attention to detail.
* Handling ethics submissions or research including submission and communication with a human research ethics committee.
* Current knowledge of all relevant issues pertaining to research governance.
