About the role The University of Canberra (UC) Faculty of Health, in partnership with Canberra Health Services (CHS), is seeking an outstanding and visionary academic leader for a Joint Professor of Allied Health Research appointment. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of allied health research, practice, and education across academia and the public health sector. As a joint appointee, you will work across both institutions, driving excellence in research, fostering collaboration, and translating evidence into improved clinical outcomes for the ACT community and beyond. You will provide strategic leadership in allied health research across UC and CHS, build and strengthen a vibrant allied health research culture and network leading in high‑impact research agenda.

Key Responsibilities

Driving translation of research into clinical practice, improving service delivery and patient outcomes

Fostering collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and institutions

Developing national and international partnerships that inform innovative clinical practice

Working closely with senior leaders within CHS and UC to strengthen collaboration between the two entities

Contributing to strategic planning, mentoring staff, and enhancing research capability across the allied health workforce

Leading innovative, externally funded research programs in allied health and maintaining an outstanding personal research profile and academic standing

Representing UC and CHS in senior internal and external forums

About you To succeed in this role, you will be an internationally recognised leader with a passion for advancing allied health research and practice.

Doctoral qualification in a relevant allied health discipline

Eligibility for AHPRA registration or relevant professional membership

Background in one of UC’s allied health areas, including but not limited to Exercise Physiology, Nutrition & Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Medical Imaging, or Speech Pathology

Required Experience

Outstanding research track record with evidence of peer‑reviewed publications, external research funding and successful HDR supervision

Demonstrated success in translating research into clinical practice

Proven ability to build research capacity and culture in clinical environments

Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills

Strategic leadership experience in complex environments
