We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full‐time and part‐time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Riverton Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We are an inclusive community where students work collaboratively in a rich learning environment to achieve their academic, social, and emotional potential. We have a strong focus on English, Mathematics and Science to ensure students are supported and equipped for their future learning and experience. Other learning areas include Music, Japanese, Art, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Physical Education.
We work closely and inclusively with the Riverton Education Support Centre (ESC), sharing the campus and interchanging staff across the two official schools. All our students complete activities and share the facilities together.
The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will assist teachers with providing support for students with special needs. You would, under general supervision and guidance, assist in the implementation of specialised education programmes. Additionally, you will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programmes, including the operation of computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programmes or demonstrations.
Suitable applicants will ideally work under general supervision and autonomously and will be required to contribute advice and expertise, actively collaborating with colleagues to support student and whole school achievement.
High expectations will be placed on suitable applicants who would work in an environment characterised by whole school approaches; a strong commitment to professional learning; working in teams and accepting leadership roles and responsibilities. Suitable applicants should also be committed to putting students first and assisting teachers to implement instructional skills and strategies that maximise students' engagement in their learning.
Equity and Diversity
We are committed to an inclusive and culturally responsive workforce reflecting the diversity in our schools and the Western Australian community. We welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young people, people of diverse sexualities and genders, people with disability, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
