- Remuneration of $149,739 - $173,174 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to play a role within the newly independent NSW Early Learning Commission (formally the NSW Early Childhood Education and Care Regulatory Authority), where your work will positively impact the lives of children across NSW.

You will lead a team to undertake strategic reviews, advice, options analyses and business proposals that guide and influence decision‑making in relation to the National Law and Regulations, and specific NSW laws that apply to early childhood education and care services.

Your insights will help raise quality, drive continuous improvement and ensure consistency under the National Quality Framework. Working closely with states, territories, the Australian Government, ACECQA and other government agencies, you will play an important role in ensuring the safety of children and enhancing child outcomes.

About you

- Strong analytical and research skills to develop and provide advice on proposals for enhancements to the laws and regulations, in particular to strengthen child safety.
- Negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills to build consensus for change across diverse groups including other state and territory governments and the Commonwealth.
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to lead a team to deliver high-quality outputs in a rapid-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and exceptional communication skills, with the ability to prepare evidence‑based written briefs, proposals, correspondence and reports.
- Strong time-management skills with the flexibility and adaptability to manage competing priorities and changing demands while providing high quality work within tight and often conflicting timeframes.
- Confidence in interpreting sector performance data to spot trends, gaps and opportunities for reform.

Essential requirements of the role

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development and analysis.
