The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.
NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

Regulatory Specialist – Perth/Melbourne
We are seeking experienced industry professionals / subject matter experts in an offshore oil and gas / energy industry discipline to join our Regulatory Operations Division as a Regulatory Specialist on a full‐ or part‐time arrangement.
Key Disciplines
* Marine engineering, hull integrity including classification.
* Offshore construction, including subsea construction and pipelay.
* Marine operations associated with offshore petroleum facilities including FPSOs, MODUs and moored platforms.
* Construction and decommissioning vessel operations.
* Process or reliability engineering, experienced in predictive and proactive maintenance management in offshore energy facilities, with regulatory oversight.
* Electrical and instrumentation engineering, with proficiency in hazardous area equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain and adhere to NOPSEMA core regulatory processes, including assessments, regulatory compliance monitoring, reporting and analysis and stakeholder relationship management.
* Undertake regulatory enforcement action in accordance with NOPSEMA processes.
* Develop and maintain robust internal and external procedures, guidelines and standards relating to the regulation and management of risk.
* Assess safety cases and associated documents, inspect offshore operations and support investigations of accidents and incidents.
* Provide specialist advice on behalf of the Authority and represent NOPSEMA in engagement with industry and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
* Proven ability to identify, analyse and diagnose problems in a logical and rational manner and demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving.
* Previous experience in a regulatory capacity, and/or experience in managing risk in a major hazard industry.
* Proven experience in dealing with the safety case approach to safety regulation.
* Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels of management.
* Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in a relevant industry, particularly the offshore, onshore or downstream petroleum industry.
