Position Description and Selection Criteria: PD&PEWER_ANUO5_Project Support Officer

This position is continuing (contingent funded). The funding that supports this project has an expected end date of 3 years.

Position overview

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and versatile Project Support Officer to carry out the administrative functions associated with the philanthropically funded Freilich Project for the Study of Bigotry. The Project Support Officer will support the Convenor in delivering a variety of academic programs and public events associated with the Project.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced university administrator, preferably with a background in research-related initiatives. The role requires well-developed operational and logistical skills, particularly in planning, prioritisation and attention to detail. Familiarity with ANU's operational and online systems, especially those related to finance, budgeting, and IT is highly desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences. Experience using ANU's public-facing website platforms would also be advantageous. As the Freilich Project explores new initiatives, the Project Support Officer may need to liaise with various areas across the University. The position therefore requires a self-motivated individual who is comfortable with proactive communication and problem-solving. Working closely with the Freilich Convenor, the Project Support Officer will contribute as a collaborative team member while also operating autonomously, taking initiative to ensure the success of the Project's operational processes. The successful candidate will be adaptable and capable of managing a wide range of tasks as we plan, deliver, and evaluate an array of projects.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is the largest single College of six Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. Our academic staff are internationally recognised for their research, and 46 are members of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, or both. A hub of vibrant activity, we host more than 100 lectures, concerts and exhibitions each year, most of which are open to the public.
