The Hospital Aide team within the Department of Health Tasmania plays a vital role in supporting safe, clean, and efficient hospital operations. Working collaboratively across wards and departments, Hospital Aides assist clinical staff by maintaining high standards of hygiene, infection control, and patient support services. The team is committed to professionalism, teamwork, and compassion, ensuring patients, visitors, and staff experience a well‐organised and supportive healthcare environment.
Wards
K9E: 33 bed orthopaedic, plastics, surgical specialties and the statewide burns service
K9W: 32 bed general surgical, vascular and gynaecology ward
6A: 24 bed Trauma and Acute Surgical Unit, including a 3 bed SCOUT (Surgical Close Observation Unit TASU)
Role
* Maintain clean, hygienic surroundings to facilitate infection control.
* Maintain basic ward equipment.
* Ensure patient confidentiality.
* Clean, maintain and sterilise work areas and ward equipment within infection control guidelines.
* Provide a communication network between departments, including delivery and collection service as required.
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and staff.
Details of appointment
Multiple permanent and fixed‐term part‐time, shift worker positions (fully rotational), working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant. The selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies for up to twelve months from publication.
Salary
$57,130 to $62,486 per annum (Pro rata). Employer superannuation contribution of 12% is provided on top of this amount.
