We act for humanity.About the roleThe Senior Officer Resilience is responsible for development and delivery of targeted initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience of individuals, households, communities, and key stakeholders in the East Gippsland local government area. The role involves assisting in the implementation of evidence-based resources, training, and community activities to build capacity to anticipate, respond to, and recover from disasters and crises.Day to day, you will:Work with people and communities, and the Victorian Emergency Services and Resilience teams to deliver RediCommunities program within East GippslandDeliver evidence-based and best-practice resources, training, tools, and workshops to enhance disaster resilience within the community.Support efforts to increase sector knowledge and understanding of disaster impacts, preparedness, and the psychosocial needs of affected populationsApply a community development approach to build disaster resilience capacity and capability.To be successful in this role, you will have sound discipline knowledge gained through experience in an emergency management role and a proven track record leading and delivering community resilience/development programs.What you will bringDemonstrated significant experience in disaster resilience, emergency management, or community development.Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and expertise in emergency services and resilience based projectsHigh level of knowledge and skills and in emergency services and disaster resilience and community development principlesProven ability to develop and deliver training, workshops, and resources.Creativity and innovation - using analytical thinking to support and drive decisions, devising creative approaches to solving complex problems.A Working with Children Check, and current drivers licence is required.Benefits that act for you, while you act for humanityFinancial wellbeing: In addition to your salary, you can take advantage of salary packaging that could provide you with a great way to reduce the amount of tax you pay - and get more from your salary.
