The role

- Lecturer in Law (Level B) – Continuing, full time
- Course Director (Law and Criminal Justice) – Concurrent fixed term appointment (up to 3 years)
- Canberra campus (with flexible work options)

Salary

- Level B - $113,841 to $134,965 p.a. (plus 17% superannuation)
- Academic Institutional Allowance(s)

Charles Sturt University is seeking a passionate and experienced Lecturer in Law to join our agile team. This position will focus on delivering high-quality teaching across Priestly 11 subjects to undergraduate students via on-campus and online platforms. You will also contribute to the development and delivery of law and criminology courses, ensuring they remain current and relevant.

We are also offering a fixed-term Course Director role concurrently to this position. The Course Director will provide academic leadership and management for a complex course or group of courses, overseeing curriculum development and quality assurance, accreditation processes and compliance with academic regulations. The role also involves industry liaison, marketing, and student advisory processes, as well as leading course teams and contributing to strategic planning to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and an exceptional student experience.

For the first three years, the successful candidate will hold a dual appointment:

- Lecturer in Law – approximately 45% workload
- Course Director (Law and Criminal Justice) – approximately 55% workload

The Lecturer in Law position is a full-time continuing appointment, providing long-term career stability. The Course Director role will be offered concurrently on a fixed-term basis for up to three years.

The role includes regular international travel to support teaching delivery, partnership development, and research collaboration.

About you

You are an experienced legal academic who is passionate about teaching and leadership. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

- A relevant law qualification and eligibility to teach Priestly 11 subjects.
- Completion of Practical Legal Training and experience as a practising solicitor.
- Demonstrated experience in higher education teaching and curriculum development.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- A commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and student success.
