The Role
An opportunity has become available for multiple Principal House Officers (Critical Care - Clinical Response Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Manage urgent and emergent issues in the Short Stay/post-operative care unit assisting the nursing staff
- Join the junior doctor roster participating in day, after-hours and night roster as required
- Provide and perform clinical and non-clinical support as required under supervision of an ICU Consultant while acquiring knowledge and skills relevant to management of ICU patients
- Take consults from surgical services regarding management of their patient's medical issues
- See patients and can discuss assessments and management decisions with the Perioperative medical consultant
- Communicate effectively with clinical colleagues, patients and their relatives and work well in this multidisciplinary team
About you
**To be successful in this position you will require**:
- Bachelor in Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or recognised equivalent qualification
- AHPRA Registration
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Temporary full time (8 positions, up to 12 months)
- Base salary ranging from $125 808 - $138 571 per annum
About Us
This role will be ideal for training doctors interested in further learning and possibly a career in Critical Care. This 12-month position will be a collaborative multidisciplinary role with rotations that include: Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Anaesthetics, Short Stay Post-operative unit coverage and work with a Perioperative Medical Outreach Service.
