About Vinnies Shops
Our Vinnies shops are a well‑established and much‑loved part of the Aussie retail landscape. Aside from being an op‑shop mecca for fans of all things quality and thrift, the shops generate revenue for a broad range of services supporting the community and often serve as a first point of contact for people seeking emergency assistance.
Volunteer Role
The Retail Volunteer will perform a variety of tasks including:
- Providing customers with an excellent shopping experience
- Sorting and pricing donations in relation to basic, fashion and designer items
- Assisting with product display
- Processing sales through the POS (point of sale) cash register
- Keeping the store and sorting area tidy, whilst maintaining safe work practices
The volunteers we are seeking will ideally:
- Be a people person who is welcoming, encouraging and positive
- Be willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society
- Be respectful of others and flexible in their attitude to work and the team
- Have good time management skills and use initiative to get the job done
No experience is required as in‑store coaching and training is provided. Individuals with previous retail or hospitality backgrounds are encouraged to share their experience with fellow volunteers.
