Overview
Based in Port Moresby, the Finance Adviser reports to the Finance Manager of Santos Foundation and is responsible for preparing and delivering monthly consolidated management reports for both PNG and Australian jurisdictions. The role ensures data accuracy in SAP for all donor reporting and updates SAP master data to meet donor reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly donations received reports for Finance Manager review.
* Create monthly PNG and Australia cost tracker templates for Finance Manager review.
* Act as a business partner for Program Management teams, ensuring accounting matters are explained and issues are resolved promptly.
* Lead monthly Program Management performance meetings, reviewing expenditures against budget or reforecast for Santos-funded programmes.
* Prepare monthly PNG and Australia group cost allocation reports for Finance Manager review.
* Compile monthly PNG and Australia consolidated reporting templates for Finance Manager review.
* Develop the latest 12‐month expenditure forecast for Finance Manager review.
* Generate the month‐end donor cash balance report for Finance Manager review.
* Process monthly accruals and correcting entries for all Foundation trial balances (PNG, Australia, Timor‐Leste and Alaska) as required.
* Create monthly Santos reimbursement requests for Finance Manager review.
* Support the completion of monthly external donor reporting templates with the Finance Reporting Senior Manager.
* Assist with year‐end financial close and reporting activities as required.
* Respond to audit queries by providing required supporting documents.
* Handle ad‐hoc requests directed by Finance Manager, Finance Services Senior Manager or Finance Reporting Senior Manager.
* Ensure compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA) and Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.
Qualifications
* Minimum five years in a General Ledger or equivalent role.
* Five to ten years in a Finance Reporting or Finance Business Partner role.
* Strong compliance and financial control experience.
* Proven experience in monthly expenditure reporting, analysis and forecasting.
* Proven experience in preparing balance sheet reconciliations and clearing aged items.
* Experience sourcing, sorting and reporting data from SAP or other ERP systems.
* Experience with Power BI dashboard reporting.
* Good PC skills with medium to advanced proficiency in Excel.
* Ability to build and maintain working relationships within a multicultural workforce.
* Capability to work independently, exercise initiative and resolve issues.
* High-level analytical, conceptual thinking and communication skills, both oral and written.
* Ideally holds a degree in accounting, finance or business management and is CPA qualified, or demonstrates significant training and experience in a relevant role within a large corporate environment.
