An opportunity exists for a full-time non-ongoing National Coordinator Commercial Legal Support to join the AGS Commercial practice in either our Canberra or Melbourne office to cover a leave absence.

About the role
The National Coordinator Commercial Legal Support has responsibility and accountability for the delivery of legal support across the national AGS Commercial practice. The role works with a high level of autonomy under the broad direction of the AGS Commercial National Manager.

We are seeking candidates with experience in legal administration and who are keen to take the next step in their career in this national role. Fundamentally, a strong work ethic and a desire to lead and work in a team and ensure top quality professional administrative support to lawyers is key.

The National Coordinator Commercial Legal Support plays a critical leadership role in leading and developing our national legal support team. As the coordinator of the national legal support team you will work closely with the National Manager, Assistant National Manager and other senior leaders to supervise, develop and manage support resources.

In this role you will:

- lead, manage and provide strategic advice to the Commercial management/leadership team on legal support matters
- ensure delivery of high-quality work that meets client expectations, compliance requirements and professional standards
- undertake workforce planning and retention activities
- grow and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with other AGS practice areas and with other groups in AGD
- supervise a national team of dedicated legal support professionals.

About you
Ideally you will have experience in the following

- substantial experience in managing staff
- experience in successfully managing and implementing organisational change
- a genuine commitment to internal and external client service
- a proactive and strategic approach
- the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities as well as a willingness to take on a variety of tasks
- well-developed written and oral communication skills
- experience operating effectively in a hybrid work setting.

Experience in and knowledge of a legal practice or similar professional setting is highly desirable but not essential.
