Primary objective
Deliver high quality, culturally appropriate and effective Occupational Therapy services at Alice Springs Hospital.
Context statement
NT Health provides integrated allied health services in a variety of service settings including acute and sub-acute care, primary
health care, aged care and mental health. Currently seeking applicants in Occupational Therapy, acute and/or rehabilitation.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate Occupational Therapy services under minimal supervision within a
multidisciplinary framework.
2. Provide feedback to senior staff and management on program and clinical issues.
3. Provide clinical/professional supervision and/or support to students and relevant staff
4. Prioritise and manage a caseload within a dynamic and evolving work environment to ensure timeliness and health outcomes
are met.
5. Co-ordinate and/or contribute to continuous quality improvement and service development activities at a local or regional
level to ensure delivery of contemporary Occupational Therapy services.
6. Contribute to the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant qualifications in Occupational Therapy, and registration for practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation
Agency (AHPRA).
2. Post graduate experience in providing contemporary high level clinical Occupational Therapy services to patients and
families/carers, relevant to the setting.
3. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with patients
and families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
4. Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, with experience working in a
team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision of students and/or staff and a commitment to career development.
6. Proven ability to implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
7. Proven ability to efficiently and effectively manage a high-volume workload.
