The Junction Co is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Activation & Events Coordinator to lead community activations and events across the Portside precinct in Port Hedland's historic West End. This is an exciting opportunity to shape one of regional WA's most unique cultural precincts, working across arts, events, community engagement, public spaces, and creative programming.
About the Role
The Activation & Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, delivering, promoting, and evaluating community-led activations and events that strengthen community connection and bring public spaces to life.
Working closely with local businesses, artists, stakeholders, community groups, and funding partners, you will coordinate engaging initiatives including events, markets, performances, workshops, public activations, and placemaking projects.
This is a highly hands-on and collaborative role suited to someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys balancing creativity with structure.

Portside is Port Hedland's historic West End precinct, a culturally significant hub featuring heritage buildings, galleries, hospitality venues, creative spaces, and public gathering areas.
Through activations, events, and placemaking initiatives, Portside continues to grow as a vibrant destination supporting local artists, businesses, tourism, and community connection.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and deliver community activations and events from concept through to evaluation.
* Manage event logistics, timelines, budgets, contractors, and reporting.
* Develop promotional content including social media, digital assets, signage, and marketing collateral.
* Build strong relationships with community groups, local businesses, artists, stakeholders, and funding partners.
* Support the Portside Town Team and facilitate regular stakeholder meetings.
* Prepare funding applications, acquittals, KPI reporting, and impact reports.
* Support strategic planning, placemaking initiatives, and community engagement outcomes.
About You
You are proactive, creative, and highly organized, with experience in events, placemaking, arts, community engagement, or cultural programming. You're comfortable managing multiple projects at once and enjoy working with people from all walks of life.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Experience in events, placemaking, arts, creative industries, or community engagement.
* Experience delivering projects end-to-end, including budgeting and reporting.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience creating digital content and managing social media platforms.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Experience using Microsoft Office and Canva.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Current driver's licence.
* Valid Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain).
* National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain).
Desirable
* Experience working with funded programs and KPI reporting.
* Experience within local government, not-for-profit, arts, or community sectors.
* Understanding of placemaking and cultural development practices.
