Grand Slam Tennis – Sydney Lower North Shore
Grand Slam Tennis is seeking an enthusiastic and community-focused Sports Development Officer to join our growing organisation on Sydney's Lower North Shore.
This full-time role is ideal for a motivated sports professional who is passionate about increasing participation in sport, developing community programs, supporting junior engagement, and promoting healthy active lifestyles through tennis and recreation initiatives.
Working across clubs, schools, and community venues, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and growth of sports development programs that encourage participation, inclusion, skill development, and long-term community engagement.
Programs are delivered across:
* Cammeray Tennis Club
* Mosman Lawn Tennis Club
* Local schools and community venues across Sydney's Lower North Shore
About the Role
The Sports Development Officer will assist in the planning, coordination, promotion, and delivery of sports participation and development programs for children, juniors, and adults.
The role focuses heavily on:
* community sport participation
* player pathways
* community partnerships
The successful applicant will work closely with coaches, schools, clubs, parents, and local stakeholders to support inclusive and engaging sports programs that encourage ongoing participation and skill development.
Key ResponsibilitiesSports Development & Community Participation
* Promote participation in sport and healthy active lifestyles within schools and the broader community
* Develop and coordinate sports participation programs, initiatives, and community engagement activities
* Support inclusive and accessible sporting opportunities for participants of varying ages, backgrounds, and skill levels
* Assist in implementing player development and participation pathways
* Gather feedback and participation data to support program growth and community engagement outcomes
* Build positive relationships with schools, sporting clubs, councils, parents, and community organisations
Program Coordination & Administration
* Coordinate and assist in the delivery of:
* School sports programs
* Group coaching sessions
* Holiday clinics and community events
* Assist with scheduling, venue coordination, court allocations, lesson planning, and participant communication
* Provide organisational and administrative support for sports programs, competitions, and events
* Assist with promotional activities and community participation initiatives
* Support the delivery of structured coaching and development programs
* Assist in mentoring and supporting junior coaching staff
* Contribute to coach education and best‐practice coaching standards
* Assist with training clinics, workshops, and player development initiatives
* Identify talented participants and assist with long‐term development opportunities
Partnerships & Community Engagement
* Assist in developing partnerships with schools, sporting organisations, clubs, and community groups
* Represent Grand Slam Tennis professionally across all venues and programs
* Support participation initiatives that encourage equity, inclusion, and community involvement in sport
Additional Duties
The role may also include:
* Assisting with competitions and venue scheduling
* Supporting representative teams and tournament programs
* Developing training activities and participation initiatives
* Assisting with funding opportunities, grants, and program administration
* Coaching individuals or teams in competitive environments where required
Applicants should demonstrate:
* Diploma or Certificate in Sports Coaching, Sport Development, Recreation, or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 2 years' experience in sports coaching, sports development, or community sport programs preferred
* Strong understanding of community sport participation and player development
* Excellent communication and relationship‐building skills
* Strong organisational and administrative abilities
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
* Passion for youth participation, community sport, and active lifestyles
* Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
Required Certifications
* Tennis Australia Membership highly regarded
* Tennis Australia Junior Development Coach qualification highly regarded
* Current Working With Children Check
* Current Police Check
* Current First Aid Certificate
* Current Driver's Licence
* Full Time Position (38 hours per week)
* Salary from AUD $76,505 per annum plus superannuation
* Start Date: Monday 20 July 2026
