Overview
Based at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital, we are looking for a dynamic, motivated Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) to oversee the development and day‐to‐day running of our brand‐new model of Midwifery Group Practice (MGP). This level‐4 Maternity service provides continuity of midwifery care and support to women in the community throughout their pregnancy journey, caring for a referral population of over 55,000. Across a typical day you will run multidisciplinary team meetings, triage women, manage the maternity workforce through rostering and performance management, and act as the point of contact between the MGP and the core Maternity Unit within the hospital. You will also keep your clinical skills sharp by caring for our community's women and babies while ramping up your administrative skills in the office.
Responsibilities
* Run multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Triage women and manage day‐to‐day operations of the MGP.
* Rostering and performance management of the maternity workforce.
* Act as the contact point between the MGP and the core Maternity Unit.
* Maintain clinical skills by caring for community women and babies.
* Support recruitment, induction and training of the MGP team.
* Engage with senior managers and level‐3 MUM to ensure service quality and compliance.
Qualifications
* Registered Midwife with authority to practice through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Tertiary qualification in midwifery or relevant management experience.
* Current NSW driver's licence.

Additional Notes
The position requires a minimum 18‐month commitment or the agreed duration of contract, with payments made on a pro‐rata basis for part‐time and contract employees. The increased Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme allowance is authorised until 30th June 2026; commencement after this date may be subject to change.
