Berri Barmera Council is seeking a dynamic and community-focused General Manager to lead its Corporate and Community Services portfolio. This executive leadership role offers the opportunity to shape strategic direction and deliver high-impact services across people and culture, community development, events, libraries, tourism, and more.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager will oversee a diverse team and drive excellence in service delivery, governance, and organisational culture. The role will also contribute to Council's long-term planning and may deputise for the CEO when required.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead strategic planning and service delivery across corporate and community functions
* Oversee people and culture, risk, governance, and community engagement
* Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and organisational performance
* Foster a positive workplace culture and support professional development
* Represent Council in key stakeholder and community relationships
About you:
You are an experienced executive with a strong background in corporate services, community development ideally within a local government environment or a related sector. You bring strategic thinking, people leadership, and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence across diverse stakeholders. Your knowledge of people and culture and managing community facing services will be critical to your success.
