Support the delivery of workplace health, safety and environmental WHS across operational environments

You will be joining a large, high performing government organisation delivering construction, maintenance and operational services across regional Queensland. The team plays a key role in supporting safe work practices, ensuring compliance, and maintaining effective safety management systems across a diverse portfolio of sites.
Your new role
This AO5 opportunity is based in Mt Isa and offers the chance to support WHS&E outcomes across a regional portfolio. In this role, you will:
* Conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure compliance across both internal and contractor delivered work.
* Provide WHS&E advice and guidance to operational, supervisory and management staff regarding Safety Management System (SMS) processes and legislative requirements.
* Assist in the development and delivery of WHS&E information sessions and training initiatives.
* Support the reporting and investigation of WHS&E incidents, including contractor notifiable incidents.
* Assist with worker rehabilitation and return to work programs under the guidance of the RRTW Advisor or WHS Manager.
* Support emergency planning and response activities across offices and depots.
* Assist in the development, review and implementation of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), risk assessments and WHS Management Plans.
* Contribute to regular WHS&E reporting across regional operations and the broader business.
* Support the delivery of health and safety programs to meet stakeholder needs and operational requirements.
* You will play an important role in supporting safety compliance, improving processes and contributing to a positive safety culture across regional worksites.
What you'll need to succeed
This role is suited to a developing or experienced WHS professional looking to step into a broad operational environment.
* Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and compliance requirements.
* Experience supporting or delivering WHS&E audits, inspections and safety initiatives.
* Strong understanding of risk assessments, SWMS and safety management processes.
* Ability to support incident investigations and reporting processes.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support broader safety objectives.
* Good organisational and problem solving skills in a safety and operational context.
