RED Fire Engineers is a leading fire safety engineering consultancy delivering innovative, performance-based solutions across Australia. We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled ICT Support and Test Engineer to join our growing team. This role provides priority ICT support to the Directors, technical systems support to the Accounts Team, and specialised ICT assistance to Fire Engineers, while maintaining the digital infrastructure that supports daily operations.
About the Role
As the ICT Support and Test Engineer, you will help ensure the smooth operation of ICT systems, engineering software, accounting systems, and digital workflows. You will support the Directors with high-priority technical needs, assist the Accounts Team with financial system functionality, and provide hands-on ICT support to engineers using specialised modelling and design software.
The role includes functional testing, issue diagnosis, systems review, technical documentation, user training, and corrective action recommendations across business and engineering systems.
This role suits someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on IT support, systems administration, software testing, and technical problem-solving within a specialised engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide priority ICT support to the Directors, Accounts Team, and Fire Engineers across devices, software, cloud platforms, engineering tools, and digital workflows.
• Install, configure, test, and support engineering software such as FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Deliver first-line and second-line ICT support across hardware, software, networks, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and cloud-based collaboration platforms.
• Manage user accounts, MFA, permissions, cybersecurity hygiene, secure data access, and system availability.
• Maintain ICT asset registers, software licensing records, support logs, equipment records, and procurement documentation.
• Conduct testing of internal ICT systems, cloud platforms, engineering software, accounting systems, and digital workflows to identify functionality errors, performance issues, access issues, and process gaps.
• Develop and maintain test cases, test records, issue logs, support procedures, user guides, asset records, and technical documentation.
• Review ICT systems, data, documentation, permissions, software configurations, and support processes to ensure compliance with internal standards and operational requirements.
• Identify system risks, recurring faults, process variations, cybersecurity gaps, and areas of non-compliance, then recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with management, accounts staff, engineers, and external software vendors to resolve system issues, communicate technical changes, and improve ICT procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and user training on Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, accounting platforms, engineering software, cybersecurity practices, and operational procedures.
• Assist with ICT systems architecture reviews, software suitability assessments, hardware planning, licensing strategy, and future technology recommendations.
Skills and Experience
• Experience in ICT support, systems administration, software testing, or technical operations.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, networks, cloud platforms, and business applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, cloud environments, user access control, and security practices.
• Ability to support and test specialised engineering or technical software. Training will be provided where required.
• Ability to prepare test records, issue logs, user guides, support procedures, and technical documentation.
• Good communication skills and the ability to support senior leadership, accounts users, engineers, and external vendors.
• High attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving ability.
• Aptitude for learning new systems and tools quickly.
• Experience supporting accounting platforms such as Xero or MYOB.
• Exposure to engineering, construction, consultancy, or technical services environments.
• Experience with automation tools such as Power Automate, VBA, or Python.
• Hands-on experience supporting workflow management and HR software, including WorkflowMax and Worknice.
