The C2 Application Engineer is primarily a technical hands-on role, with responsibility to conduct capability development, as well as design, build, maintenance and configuration control tasks within a small team. It requires a combination of disciplines including communications network engineering, systems integration, innovation, test and evaluation, and documentation (technical and security).
Deliverables
:
a. Install, configure, and integrate C4ISR applications in support the Land Combat System Network Needs, and follow-on Army initiatives in support of capability decisions.
This is based primarily on:
(1) Virtualisation technologies such as KVM and VSphere,
(2) Network technologies,
(3) Routing protocols,
(4) Containerisation of applications.
b. The development and innovation of platform support to C4ISR applications and associated data interfaces.
c. Develop and deliver training package material to describe the implementation of technologies and applications on Army Mission Command systems.
d. Conduct role specific training to Joint technical tradespersons, and other technical and non-technical staff.
e. Provide technical support to Army exercises for role specific technologies and systems.
f. Review, advise and contribute to the design of application integrated solutions for Land Network systems as part of the Land Combat Systems.
g. Develop system integration design documentation, and maintain configuration control of the C4ISR hosting environment, as well as their implementation onto Test and Development and Production Mission System environments.
h. Support innovation activities to demonstrate technology.
i. Support LNIC T&E activities.
j. Support LNIC Validation activities.
k. Assist in the management C4ISR hosting environments.
l. Provide other services as tasked by the SO2 LCS Validation.
Desirables
a. Virtualisation technologies such as vSphere and KVM.
b. Networking technologies such as iBTN and Cisco IOS.
c. Routing technologies such as OSPF, BGP and Multicast.
Qualifications, or practical experience with the following systems or concepts:
a. Networking technologies and techniques.
b. PKI.
c. Infrastructure, including hosting and virtualised environments.
d. Is formally trained in, or have extensive practical experience in the specific deployment and administration of military C4ISR networks, applications or systems.
e. Experience with network integration at the tactical and operational levels within the ADF.
